One of my favorite go to essential oils is truly “essential” to having in your cabinet, especially after indulging in a little too much fun in the sun. Lavender is typically known for its deep relaxation benefits, its beautiful scent, and soft purple flowers to brighten any day (if you’re fortunate enough to have it growing in your garden)! It has now become my summer “go to” remedy after a fun day at the beach.
Simple solution:
10 drops of pure therapeutic grade Lavender essential oil
4-5 drops peppermint essential oil
4 oz. or larger-glass spray bottle
4 oz of water
* Optional: Fractionated Coconut Oil for moisturizing benefits
Combine all ingredients in the spray bottle and spritz over your skin to cool down and relieve the unpleasant affects of sunburn. You can also combine Lavender with virgin or fractionated coconut oil in 1:5 ratio, blend and put on burn. The best part; Lavender is known for its antimicrobial properties and has a history of accelerating the healing process of burns and scrapes. When used at bedtime, the proven ability to enhance the overall quality of sleep is a plus for a wonderful, peaceful night.
As if lavender isn’t enough with its restful and healing abilities, newer studies are showing that inhaling Lavender essential oil vapors (aromatherapy) may improve mood and anxiety.
So if you’re off to the beach or pool this weekend, be sure to have some lavender on hand to enhance your full weekend experience.
