Can stress be fun? Definitely not the stress but finding fun ways to calm your mind and body can be. Let’s face it, as women (mom or not) lifes demands of trying to care for others and do it all can put a big strain on our health, energy, and immune system. With mother’s day coming up, as well as honoring ALL women, I want to share a wonderful tool I use every day to keep calm and feel uplifted, even while cleaning my house. It’s the many uses and scents of essential oils.

The ancient therapeutic remedies of essential oils are becoming increasingly popular, with recent studies showing how certain oils have the ability to reach receptors to the brain, improving mood, sleep, anxiety; all important factors in reducing stress which is one of the top contributors of inflammation. Many people start out using the wonderful relaxing oils like Lavender or Serenity (a lavender blend) then slowly discover the many ways to incorporate them into other areas of your home, office, and life. Here are two favorites that keep me uplifted at daytime & relaxed at night!

Two of my favorites that help keep me uplifted during the day, calm and relaxed at bedtime, and help me cleanse my body and kitchen are lemon and lavender. Here are simple recipes that cover both. PLEASE REMEMBER… it is important to use high quality, pure essential oils so you are not adding more toxins to your body and environment when using them. Keep in mind that whether you are putting oils on the bottom of your feet for calming, in your bath water, or sipping lemon water, these all are pathways to enter into our body so purity is essential!

Create Your Own Mini Spa (Recipe)

For this recipe you don’t need much, only to put some special time away for yourself and follow these instructions.

All you need are some nicely scented candles, bath salts or baking soda, Epsom salt, lavender oil, some relaxing music and a nice soft towel and robe. Dim the lights, light some candles in the bathroom, and fill the bathtub with very warm water (as warm as you can stand it) and follow the quick recipe below:

– 2 cups of Epsom salt – or – Sea Bath Salts from the Dead Sea
– 1 cup of baking soda
– 10 drops of lavender oil

The Epsom salt or Bath Sea Salts and baking soda will help relieve the toxins from your body while also adding minerals to your body like Magnesium that will naturally help to relax muscles, while the lavender oil is very calming and soothing. Soak in the tub for about 20 minutes. It’s a great, inexpensive way to create your own spa without having to spend a lot of money or time trying to include one more appointment into your already busy day.
