Are you ready to enjoy apple season? If you are a lover of the traditional Thanksgiving apple pie, but are "gluten free", you can still enjoy this delicious dessert. And you don't have to wait for Thanksgiving to do it! Here is a delicious recipe that satifies the apple pie cravings, but adds the holiday flare of cranberries (great combination). This has been my secret weapon when preparing for a bike race or extra long ride, but it's so good even kids love it!  Quinoa is a gluten free whole grain that is also a complete protein with all the essential amino acids. Just add blueberries or your favorite fruit loaded with anti-oxidents, and you've got a meal in a dessert. I have enjoyed this for breakfast on race days too.

There is nothing more daunting than the anticipation of a major storm coming to the area.. The media hype can help get us motivated to prepare, but it also puts a lot of stress on us with the anticipation building as the storm nears.

After surviving 5 major hurricanes in 3 years, in addition to many more storms, these tips definitely made it more enjoyable for me.

 

  1. Start baking before the lights go out. Make 1 or 2 favorite, healthy but yummy snacks you can enjoy to help relieve some of the stress. Maybe some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and a pumpkin smoothie that can be kept in the refrigerator.
